Product Units
Units in which the product is offered for sale.
Why Units
Product Units allow you to define in which units the product is sold or offered and how they are recalculated among themselves.
Calculation of Units Examples
Liquid Products
The base unit can be e.g. a barrel. A barrel has 1000 litres. But we also offer litres in our e-shop
Units will be listed for the product
- barrel, conversion factor 1
- litre, coefficient 0.001
Carpets sold by metre
The base unit will be the standard metre, which is 5m2. But next to the base unit, there are also m2 units and roles
For the carpet, units will be listed:
- bm – standard metre, coefficient 1
- m2 – coefficient 1/5 = 0.2 (a role has a width of 5 m2)
- role – coefficient 25 (there is 25bm carpets in the role)
Which unit is the base
Note: The base unit is not the simplest or closest to standard physical units
The base unit is the unit in which the product is normally handled, typically also the unit in which the order is placed from the supplier, or in which inventory is counted when taking inventory.
What the units are used for
The units are used to recalculate orders when orders arrive in non-standard units. If sales are only possible in the base units, the order must be calculated on the base units.
