Project Team or Workflow Team

The project team consists of project roles and the employees nominated to them.

Assembling the Project Team

The project manager always has an overview of the team available, which serves them for:

  • Planning people’s capacity
  • Monitoring how busy people are in the project and whether they are keeping up with their work
  • Assigning people to project roles.

Person assignment to the project role

The window is used for a detailed overview of the project team. It displays both current and past team members. Looking into the past is important for subsequent project audits and for compliance with project standards.

Project Team

The project team is, of course, made up of people. However, people are appointed to specific project roles.

Each project role has defined in the methodology what qualifications an employee must have in order to be appointed to that project role. The system offers for assignment to a role only those employees who have the appropriate qualifications. An employee without the required qualification cannot be assigned to the role.

Why the History of the Project Team Is Important

The history of the project team is important for a number of reasons:

  • Due to project audit. It is important to be able to demonstrate that qualified people were part of the project team at the time when this was necessary due to the activities performed.
  • Customers often require documentation of the team. Once mandatory professions are part of the team (e.g. a welder), you must not lose this information even many years after the project is completed.
  • For project evaluation. Part of the evaluation is also assessing whether the project team was appropriate. When evaluating problems, the availability of the right people at the right time is often assessed as well.
  • When planning a new project. The project team is an important piece of information when you use project experience during the preparation of a new project.

The History of People in the Project Remains in the System in Multiple Places

Even if you remove a person from the project team, information about their assignment remains stored. The project manager can remove it only until the employee has started actively working on the project; later this is no longer possible.

Information about an employee’s work is stored both in the project team and in the individual tasks they participated in. At first glance, this may seem like unnecessary duplication, but it is not:

  1. Assignment to the project is what enables tasks to be assigned to an employee.
  2. The project team may also include people to whom no task is assigned. For example, the mentioned welder will most likely receive a task from a shift leader/system, who will be responsible for the task and confirm it on behalf of the entire team.
